The Ames Progressive Alliance (APA) and the Ames Public Library (APL) will co-sponsor a public forum for the Ames School Board candidates on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, in the library’s Farwell T. Brown Auditorium from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.
In addition, APA will host a pre-forum Ice Cream Social from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for candidates and community members.
With an interest in accommodating participation by all community members, the APA will offer supervised activities in the library for children ages 4 and up from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
APA Steering Committee member, Carolyn Myers said, “The forum will be a great chance for progressive groups and citizens to communicate the issues that matter to them and for the Ames Community School Board Candidates to communicate their stance on these issues.”
To ensure broad community representation and encourage a more diverse participation in city government, the organizations presenting questions will be the Ames Bicycle Coalition, A Mid-Iowa Organizing Strategy (AMOS), Inclusive Ames Safe Communities, Ames Youth and Schools Action Team, Spectrum, Youth and Shelter Services, and the Ames Progressive Alliance.
The Ames Progressive Alliance is a growing local organization with the mission to lead Ames toward a shared, vibrant and prosperous future by leveraging community resources for progressive priorities. These priorities include:
